Mission Statement
Roger D. Gehring Elementary School is a safe, nurturing learning environment that ensures student success through a partnership of students, staff, and community to build a strong foundation of citizens who positively impact the future.
 
Highlights
Our school is proud to highlight the following accomplishments:
  • Students and teachers in grades 1 through 3 all benefited from learning in classrooms.
  • Character Counts served as the character education program, encouraging good citizenship, and a bully-free environment.
  • Whole school anti-bullying assemblies allowed students an opportunity to engage in instruction designed to prevent bullying.
  • A variety of award assemblies offered students the opportunity to be recognized, school-wide, once a trimester.
  • Grade levels participated in the Statesman, Globetrotters, World Traveler, Nevada Citizen, and Great American awards.
  • The Gecko Gold program offered class recognition for positive behavior in library, art, music, and PE.
  • Homework Club offered students the opportunity to complete their homework within a teacher-supervised environment.
  • A grade 4 trip to Nevada's capitol, Carson City, provided students with a first-hand experience with state government.
  • Teacher-led Response to Intervention (RTI) groups allowed for instruction designed specifically to student ability levels.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Grade 5 students will show increased achievement in writing on the 2011 NV Writing Proficiency Exam.

Objective(s):
Student performance on the NV Writing Proficiency Exam will increase across all subgroups from 49.41% proficient to 59.41% proficient. Within the trait conventions, performance across all subgroups will increase from a score of 2.70 to a score of 3.00 on the norm referenced scale of 1.00 to 5.00.
