Marshall C. Darnell Elementary School is where kids come first. We provide a safe and caring environment, and offer the following programs and strategies to our children.- Lexia, Fast ForWord, Leap Frog, and small group instruction provided differentiation and reading intervention.
- DIBELS pre- and post-assessment and progress monitoring tracked student progress and reading fluency.
- Thinking Maps allowed students to organize their thinking for writing and summarizing content.
- Science fair and Full Option Science System (FOSS) kits supported student learning in science.
- Chorale, instrument ensemble, flag football, and drama provided extra-curricular activities in humanities and sports.
- PTA "Reflections" contest provided an outlet for artistic expression in music, dance, visual arts, film making, and writing.
- Odyssey Math and the school-wide math facts campaign provided differentiated instructional paths to students in math.
- Write From the Beginning was the basis of writing instruction in grades K-5.
- State-funded, class-size reduction provided smaller student-to-teacher ratios in grades 1, 2, and 3.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Teachers will utilize research-based strategies to improve instruction and to increase achievement in ELA and math.
Objective(s): Students with IEPs in grades 3-5 will show a 10% reduction of non-proficiency in math on the Nevada Criterion Referenced Test. Current results indicate that 71.1% of IEP students in grades 3-5 were non-proficient. Students in grades 3-5 will achieve the ELA target of 63.8% or attain Safe Harbor.
