The mission of Hayes Elementary School is to provide a positive and safe learning environment through a partnership of the community, parents, and staff, where rigorous and relevant curriculum, along with high expectations, will guide all students to reach their full potential and discover the hero within. |

Welcome to Keith and Karen Hayes Elementary School, home of the HEROES. We are proud of our involvement in the Safe and Civil Schools initiative.- An Intervention program utilized the researched-based Fast-ForWord software program before, during, and after school.
- Multicultural education was embedded in musical productions known as Pod Performances and the Annual School Play.
- A Hayes Student Council election culminated in a formal inauguration.
- The American Heart Association was supported by participation in the annual fundraiser, Jump Rope for Heart.
- An intervention period for enrichment and remedial academic opportunities was implemented.
- Teachers implemented after-school tutoring and an English Language Learners (ELL) Writing Camp during the summer.
- PTA sponsored events such as: monthly Pizza with the Principal, family book nights, book fairs, and Fall Carnival.
- Students receiving special education services benefitted from the Inclusive Schools Model & co-teaching in all grade levels.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Staff members will consistently use research-based effective strategies to differentiate instruction in math and ELA.
Objective(s): Between September 2010 and May 2011,the percentage of non-proficient students on the ELA & math portions of the 2011 CRT will decrease by 10% for all students, including but not limited to the sub-groups of Black/African American and IEP.
Goal 2 Staff members will modify instruction and implement strategies to ensure that all students meet or exceed 2011 CRT.
Objective(s): Between September 2010 and May 2011, the percentage of non-proficient students school-wide will decrease by 10%, including but not limited to, the sub-group of Black/African American and IEP as measured by 2011 CRT and AIMSWeb tracking data.
