Mission Statement |

The mission of John W. Bonner Elementary is to provide a nurturing, constructive environment for all students to learn and be successful. Our goal is to foster and build an enriched instructional community that delivers a sound academic-based education while accommodating individual learning styles. Through collaborative effort, we will establish a continuing communication among students, staff, parents and community. |

The staff at John W. Bonner Empowerment Elementary School models high expectations for citizenship and academic achievement through the following programs and recognitions:- Citizenship and academic award recognition assemblies and student pizza luncheons with the principals were held.
- Students were motivated through a Star Wars-themed testing campaign to raise achievement on the Criterion Referenced Test.
- Before- and after-school math and reading tutorial classes were offered to students, as well as a CRT Boot Camp.
- Technology was expanded through the addition of a new computer lab and the update of the current computer lab.
- Students participated in math fact competitions, reading week activities, science fairs, and evening parent nights.
- After-school activities included art clubs, cheerleading, and the Blue Cat Musical group.
- Lexia, ST Math, and Fast Forward programs were utilized by students to increase achievement in literacy and math.
- Outdoor morning ceremonies shared the Pledge of Allegiance, 30 seconds of silence, physical exercises, & other activities.
- Focused interventions for students were implemented with AIMSweb, Imagine Learning, Voyager and Rigby Reads.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Decrease the number of non-proficient students in English language arts (ELA.)
Objective(s): Reduce the percentage of non-proficient LEP students by 10%, from 57.14% to 51.43%. The IEP non-proficient students will be decreased by 10%, from 66.25% to 60%. The non-proficient Hispanic ELA students will decrease from 48.89% to 44%.
Goal 2 Decrease the number of non-proficient students in mathematics.
Objective(s): Reduce the percentage of non-proficient LEP students by 10%, from 32.14% to 28.93%. The IEP non-proficient students will be decreased by 10%, from 33.33% to 29.97%. The non-proficient Hispanic ELA students will decrease from 52.5% to 47.25%.
