Mission Statement
The community of H.P. Fitzgerald Elementary School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment dedicated to academic excellence. We work together to develop life-long learners and independent thinkers, who demonstrate respect for self and others and become successful, contributing members of a global society.
 
Highlights
H.P Fitzgerald Elementary school is working together with teachers, staff, parents and the community to ensure the academic success of all students. Highlights of our school year are as follows:
  • Reading intervention programs were implemented school-wide including BURST Early literacy, Fast Forward and System 44.
  • Parent round table and learning strategy sessions were held on a monthly basis.
  • Three Academic Nights were held to promote families and teachers working together to increase student success.
  • Structured Teacher Planning/Data discussions were held weekly for teachers to work collaboratively to address student needs.
  • Trimester awards assemblies, Student of the Month awards and good behavior incentives recognized student accomplishments.
  • A new Parent Learning Center was opened for parents to get supplemental materials to work with their children at home.
  • Site licenses were acquired for parents to learn English and Spanish using the Rosetta Stone computer program.
  • Partnerships with SSSCU, State Farm Insurance, Detroit Connection and the N. Las Vegas Police Dept supported school programs.
  • Students participated in after-school events such as Girl Scouts, tutoring, intramural sports and a variety of field trips.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Increase the effectiveness of Tier I English language arts (ELA) and mathematics instruction.

Objective(s):
Analysis of classroom observation data will document that 100% of teachers are implementing effective Tier 1 English language arts and math instruction.
