Mission Statement
Our mission is to establish a supportive environment in which all students are challenged to perform at high academic and behavioral levels.
 
Highlights
Antonello has been an Empowerment School for 5 years. The Antonello learning community has utilized the Empowerment status to creatively work with the five autonomies to improve student achievement.
  • Achievement results in the area of reading showed gains for most subgroups.
  • In reading, Antonello reduced the percent of non-proficient students in 5th grade by 16.05% as measured by state testing.
  • In writing, Antonello increased the number of students passing the fifth grade Writing Proficiency Test by 20.42%.
  • In mathematics, Antonello reduced the percent of non-proficient students in 5th grade by 18.80% as measured by state testing.
  • Teachers and Intervention Specialists worked to design and implement individualized plans to assist struggling students.
  • A split schedule was created and utilized to increase student achievement through individualized, focused instruction.
  • Hallway tutors were hired to provide remedial support for struggling students.
  • Students attending Ticket to Read and teacher tutoring showed a significant increase in the area of reading comprehension.
  • Walk to Read was utilized to provide students with extra reading instruction at their individual levels.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Grade three students will show an increase in the reading achievement strand.

Objective(s):
Students in third grade will demonstrate a 2% increase in those who meet or exceed standards on the Nevada state reading Criterion Referenced Test.

Goal 2
Grade 3 through 5 students in identified subgroups will show an increase in achievement in the area of reading.

Objective(s):
Students in grades 3-5 will demonstrate a 2% increase in the percentage of those who meet or exceed proficiency standards on the Nevada state reading Criterion Referenced Test, specifically, in identified subgroups.
