Mission Statement
Bendorf Learning Community will provide a safe, positive learning environment where every student will achieve academic and social excellence.
 
Highlights
Bendorf Bobcats care, cooperate, and continue to achieve.
  • Bendorf teachers implemented the components of an effective lesson and differentiated instruction to assist all students.
  • Tutoring was provided in vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and basic math skills.
  • Technology was enhanced so classrooms had Smartboards, responders, Elmo projectors, and iPods available.
  • Software programs assisted students with phonics, test-taking practice, math fact drill, and learning English.
  • Governance committees met monthly to review curriculum needs, solve safety issues, and promote community involvement.
  • Bendorf teachers met weekly to collaborate on student achievement and follow the response to instruction process.
  • Students took part in leadership opportunities and community service as members of the Student Council.
  • Bendorf's choir practiced weekly to showcase their talents at the holiday and spring concerts.
  • Bendorf's parent teacher group facilitated a Fall Festival, Holiday Shoppe, and Family Restaurant Nights.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Fifth grade students will increase achievement in the Writing Proficiency Test in January 2011 from 49% to 63%.

Objective(s):
Scores from the 5th grade Writing Proficiency Test in January 2011 in the area of conventions will increase from 52% to 62% and in the area of organization from 65% to 70%.

Goal 2
Students in the IEP, Hispanic, and African American subgroups will improve achievement in writing, reading, and math.

Objective(s):
Scores from the 4th and 5th grade reading CRT in the spring of 2011 will improve by a minimum of 10% in all subgroups. Scores from the 4th and 5th grade math CRT in the spring of 2011 will improve by a minimum of 10% in all subgroups.
