Mission Statement
The Cunningham Elementary School community is committed to providing all students with the academic and behavioral skills necessary to reach their fullest potential, and become productive, capable, and responsible citizens.
 
Highlights
Cynthia Cunningham ES has a dedicated staff of teachers and we are committed to providing every student with a high quality educational experience in a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Teachers utilize Thinking Maps and Write From the Beginning lessons during writing instruction to improve writing skills.
  • Teachers utilize enVisions math and other supplementary math materials during instruction to improve math skills.
  • Teachers utilize leveled readers from Reading A - Z to provide differentiated instruction to students in reading.
  • We analyze student assessment data from the STAR reading and math programs to track student progress and drive instruction.
  • All classrooms in grades K - 5 are equipped with Smart Boards and mounted projectors to enhance student engagement.
  • Our school hosts several after-school events to share information with parents on ways to promote academic success at home.
  • We offer after-school tutoring and summer school to students to improve their skills in reading and math.
  • With support from Communities in Schools, we have a health clinic on our campus to offer additional assistance to students.
  • Through our Adopt a School partnership with UNLV, many students were able to visit the UNLV campus for various events.

Goal 1
Teachers will utilize research-based instructional strategies to improve student learning in reading and math.

Objective(s):
As measured by the CRT's and Writing Proficiency Exam, the school and all subgroups will achieve AYP or Safe Harbor in English language arts and math for the 2010 - 2011 school year.
