Our mission is to educate our future leaders through inspiring life-long learning by emphasizing and promoting the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and to create a caring community of contributing citizens within a nurturing learning environment where all students are encouraged to do their best, to appreciate the uniqueness of others and to have a positive vision of the future. With the help of the community, dedicated educators and a relevant curriculum that fosters active participation and inquiry, all students will socially, emotionally and academically prosper as life-long learners in our changing global society. |

Rigor, Relevance and Relationships represent our school vision and mission to close the achievement gap and improve the quality of instruction for all students to achieve success.- Officially adopted by the State of Nevada, as the "Leader in Me" school to Inspire Greatness One Child at a Time.
- Gifted and Talented students achieved third place in the Nevada State Science Olympiad competition.
- Conducted an after-school tutoring program and Gibson Summer Literacy Academy in reading, writing and math.
- Expanded a Parent Resource Center to promote parental participation, communication and involvement.
- Celebrated student/teacher achievement and success for academic, social and perfect attendance.
- Established a Response to Intervention Model to decrease student non-proficiency and to increase student proficiency.
- Launched year two of the Three Tier Math Model to increase student achievement in math and promote peer assisted review.
- Fully implemented "Success Maker" software program in reading and math, grades K-8.
- Teachers successfully implemented ELMO document cameras and technology to increase active student engagement.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Teachers will use effective strategies to improve instruction and decrease the 19% non-proficiency in math, grades 3-5.
Objective(s): Increase student engagement in math by teachers applying Depth of Knowledge 3 questioning. All subgroups will attain the math target of 85% proficiency from our current school-wide proficiency of 81.31% on the 2010 Nevada CRT.
Goal 2 All 26.63% of our non-proficient students in grades 3, 4 & 5 will demonstrate proficiency in reading on the Nevada CRT.
Objective(s): Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will achieve the reading target of 84% proficiency for the 2010-2011 school year (an increase of 10.69% from 2010). Fifth grade students will achieve the writing target of 12, as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency Examination.
Goal 3 Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will demonstrate increased achievement in reading on the 2011-2012 Nevada CRT.
Objective(s): All teachers and students will participate in teacher-facilitated and student-centered lessons in reading, writing and math to increase active participation in teaching and learning by implementing multiple approaches and teacher/student engagement strategies.
