The primary goal of Fong Elementary School is to educate and nurture all students to become successful and productive members of society, while we encourage and maintain the support of family and community in all our endeavors. |

The staff at Fong Elementary worked diligently to educate all students and believed that all students can succeed and continually worked on a daily basis to attain this goal.- Students engaged daily in a 90-minute Tiered Reading Program and a 30-minute program for intervention and extension.
- Students engaged in a daily 70-minute math program based on Investigations and the Components of an Effective Math Lesson.
- Writing instruction was provided through a 50-minute writing block using Lucy Calkins' Writers Workshop Units of Study.
- IEP students were included within core, general education classes through the implementation of Inclusive School Practices.
- A Parent Center supported the community with a variety of resources and services.
- Parent involvement increased through monthly morning and evening meetings and weekly parent training classes.
- After-school tutoring was provided in all core academic areas.
- Third, fourth and fifth grade students were prepared for high stakes testing by providing the "We Are Ready" program.
- After-school programs included gardening, art, chess, intramural basketball and cheerleading for students in grades K-5.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1
Teachers will utilize effective instructional strategies to improve instruction and increase active student achievement.
Objective(s):
Students in grades 3-5 will show a 10% reduction of non-proficiency in ELA and math as measured by the 2010-2011 Nevada Criterion Referenced Test (CRT) and the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam.
Goal 2
Teachers will provide specific goals and timely feedback in the area of reading to all students on a monthly basis.
Objective(s):
Teachers will document students' individual reading goals and feedback in their monthly feedback logs. Administration will monitor monthly feedback logs to ensure 100% of the teachers are providing appropriate individual goals and feedback.
