The McMillan Elementary School learning community will provide a safe and positive learning environment that celebrates responsibility, respect and diversity. We embrace the support and collaboration of our community, families and staff, and through the partnership between these stakeholders, we expect each student to achieve to their maximum potential through rigorous, content-rich, standards-based instruction in order to become positive, college and work force ready members of their community. |

McMillan Elementary School is proud to highlight the following accomplishments:- ARRA supported family involvement activities included monthly family celebrations and family academic nights.
- Seven Saturday Academic Academies were offered and attended by 75% of invited students.
- Data walls were posted throughout the building displaying learner progress toward grade level objectives.
- Honor Assemblies were held each trimester celebrating academic and social successes.
- Thirty weeks of before- and after-school tutoring were offered and additional in-school support was provided to grades K-5.
- Students participated in Life Skills activities and were able to gain membership into the McMillan "Paws Club."
- The community participated in Reading Week and Field Day and was invited into various classrooms.
- Overall, proficiency in math increased by 11% and all subgroups reduced the number of non-proficient students by 10%.
- Fourth grade students increased proficiency in English language arts by 8% and Hispanic, Black, IEP, LEP and FRL improved.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 All instructional staff will analyze data and modify instruction to ensure that all students meet or exceed proficiency.
Objective(s): Grades K-5 students will demonstrate proficiency in targeted content strands in math and ELA as measured by pre/post common grade level assessments. Reduction of non-proficient students by 10% in ELA and math in grades K-5, as measured by the 2010-11 CRT's, Writing Proficiency, DRA and interims.
Goal 2 All instructional staff will develop unit/lesson plans based on 2009-10 CRT assessment results and known best practices.
Objective(s): The African-American, LEP and IEP subgroups will demonstrate a 10% growth overall in the areas of mathematics and English language arts as measured by the 2010-11 CRT's and interim assessments.
