Mission Statement
At Claude and Stella Parson Elementary School, we believe that education is a collaborative effort between home and school. Our goal is to promote independent thinking on the part of our students, while maintaining a high level of academic standards.
 
Highlights
The focus of the Claude and Stella Parson E.S. community is to promote both academic and personal success in all our students.
  • Implementation of Response to Intervention promoted individualized academic and behavior success for students.
  • Computer-based interventions supported student achievement with Number Maze, Earobics, Ticket to Read and Study Island.
  • A school-wide behavioral expectation system, CHAMPS, set the stage for teacher and student expectations throughout the day.
  • Structured teacher planning time was utilized to analyze assessment data and adjust student groupings and instruction.
  • Four full-day kindergarten programs served 102 students.
  • Inclusive Schools Practices (ISP) was maintained in support of special education students learning with their peers.
  • Before- and after-school tutoring in reading, writing and math were offered for 1st through 5th grade students.
  • Our Learning Strategist and Instructional Aide provided support to students in promoting academic success, ARRA funded.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Grades 3 through 5 will increase proficiency in math on the spring 2011 Nevada CRT.

Objective(s):
Grades 3 through 5 will demonstrate increased academic achievement in mathematics by a minimum of 12.3%.

Goal 2
Grades 3 through 5 will increase proficiency in ELA on the spring 2011 Nevada CRT in all content clusters.

Objective(s):
Grades 3 through 5 will demonstrate increased academic achievement in English language arts by a minimum of 11.6%.
