It has been another good year for Storey County Schools, both in the classroom and in athletic competition. For six years all Storey County Schools met the federal standards (NCLB) for performance. The high school won the state Academic Olympics contest this year. The cross country team and the girls’ high school basketball team were honored as being the highest academic achievement in the state. In athletics, the cross country team qualified for the state finals, the girls’ basketball team won their fifth consecutive Northern Nevada league championship and third straight Northern Nevada Conference championship and the boys’ basketball team won the Northern Nevada Conference and finished second in the state. School improvements continued with solar panels being installed at the high school and a joint project with Storey County resulted in an exercise track at Hillside Elementary School. All this is made possible by the continued support of our schools by the Storey County residents. |
