Mission Statement
The mission of the Carson City School District is to contribute to the development of successful young adults who will make healthy contributions to themselves, their families, the State of Nevada, our great nation and the world.

Highlights

While no single report can tell the complete story of our educational accomplishments, the following are a few highlights of the 2010-11 school year:

  • Carson City School District made adequate yearly progress (AYP) based on 2010-2011 mandated test scores.
  • Carson High School Teacher Cheryl Macy was named Nevada's Teacher of the Year and represents our State on a national level.
  • The district completed its first year of using ARAMARK as its food service consultant.  Students reported favorably on the quality and flavor of food.
  • Standard Student Attire (School Uniforms) was introduced at Carson Middle School as part of the "Positive Behavior Support" program.  Three additional schools will implement the Standard Student Attire program in 2011-2012.
  • Voters of Carson City approved a 10-year roll-over school bond question.  The roll-over process will allow school bonds to be sold during a 10-year period to build new facilities and remodel existing structures and grounds.  The District has re-established the Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee to assist with making decisions associated with the bond projects.
  • A District/Community Career and Technical Education joint venture was created with "The Greenhouse Project".  A modern community garden and greenhouse is being built on the Carson High School Campus where private business and public schools will interact and contribute to its operation.
  • The District re-defined and increased its support for the ESL Program.
  • The District completed solar arrays at five District Campuses that will have the capacity to generate almost 2 Mega-watts of electricity.  The District expects to save approximately $500,000 in utility savings per year through this project.
  • Student Achievement:  CHS produced four National Merit Scholars and four State Team Academic Championships.  National and State recognition was garnered by CHS Career and Technical Education students and staff in a variety of categories.
  • Pioneer High School was recognized for its contributions to student learning and was asked by the Nevada Department of Education to present its successful strategies and programs at a National Education Conference.
  • Bordewich/Bray was recognized as one of two "High Achieving Title l Schools" in the State.  Bordewich/Bray was also recognized nationally for having the best afterschool program in the nation.
  • The Grants Department obtained and managed approximately $10.2 million dollars in special revenues which enhance our regular funding and programming.
