Who Are We?
Churchill County School District (CCSD) is proud of our many accomplishments and especially proud of the progress our students are making. Every school has students that are making and exceeding expectations. We benefit from our Board of Trustees' commitment to improvement student achievement, providing safe and secure schools and working environments, and maximizing our resources. We are fortunate to have Naval Air Station Fallon and the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe as our educational partners. Take great pride in our Pre-K through Adult Education services. Our highly trained and qualified staff receives ongoing rigorous professional development and training to empower them to stay on the cutting-edge of best instructional practices. CCSD staff work closely with the Nevada Department of Education, National Association of Federally Impacted Schools, U. S. Department of Education, Churchill Community Coalition and other local and national agencies to remain in compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines.
One Pre-K School, Four grade schools, One junior high school and One comprehensive high school, and Adult Education Services . . .
Our schools are well maintained, clean and safe. Our friendly and skilled staff is resourceful and eager to assist parents and other visitors. Our students benefit from the teamwork among the adults throughout CCSD. Churchill County High School (CCHS) is large enough to offer a variety of courses offered by experts in their fields, but small enough so that students receive individual guidance and assistance. We have implemented four year education plans for all incoming freshman as an additional effort to personalize our educational services. CCHS offers qualifying students the following programs: Honors and Advanced Placement, National Honor Society membership, Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), Advanced Placement and a variety of vocational such as modern Culinary Arts and Health Occupations classes. Churchill County Junior High School is in its second year of implementing a state-of- the-art SMART Lab where 21 Century skills are being learned and practiced by CCSD students. CCHS is in its first year of implementing a second to none STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Lab, and Digital Multi-Media technology lab funded with bond funds for the technology infrastructure, and partnerships formed with Creative Learning Systems, State Technology Grant and Special Education funding. All CCHS students have an opportunity to learn and practice skills needed in today's workplace.
Our number goal is . . . Improving Student Achievement by Eliminating Performance Gaps . . .
Student achievement has been our focus for several years, and it is the filter for decisions throughout the school district. We are committed to providing each student access to best instructional strategies every day. We are working side-by-side to eliminate performance gaps, and challenge all students to be the best they can be. We are investing in human capital each day as we build capacity within each individual, and strengthen our system. Our business affairs are managed by a Certified Public Accountant. Our audits reflect the efficiency and effectiveness of our small business office staff. CCSD recently received a bond rating of AAA from Standard and Pools (S&P). Our website is used as an effective communications tool, and our mass notification telephone system receives high praise from our parents and community.
Governance and Leadership . . .
Each year the Board of Trustees and Superintendent of Schools determine our District Goals and commitment to their goals based on student performance, safety, and fiscal data. These goals are aligned with the Nevada Department of Education State Improvement Plan and each CCSD School Improvement Plan in our District. Each school is required to have a Safety Plan. The CCSD School Board of Trustees are members of the Nevada Association of School Boards, and participate in training opportunities to stay informed and up-to-date with best governance practices.
