Humboldt County School District - Curriculum Details

Humboldt County School District continues to refine all curriculum and is paying close attention to the rollout of the Common Core State Standards. All subject areas will continually work to ensure the articulated curriculum is meeting the needs of students. This work has deepened the implementation of Professional Learning Communities, Data Teams, and produced a stronger push towards developing Common Formative Assessments at the site and district level to provide immediate feedback about student learning. Work on these components will never be finished as teams continuously revise and reassess each piece to ensure the focus remains on student learning. MAPS assessments in reading and math have provided a district level assessment in grades K-10 and as needed in 11th and 12th. The MAP test for science continues to be utilized at grades 9-10 again this year to target student needs. HCSD is revising the district writing plan to meet the curriculum changes coming forward. A+ software is also being piloted at grades 7-12 with the hope it can expand to enrichment on top of the current use for remediation.
